*** Bug Report ***
Users of ZipCode Decoder in certain locations, such as Germany, Portugal, Poland or any location that renders decimals using a comma (such as 4,5) may see a blank result when running the program. Regions that use a period to render decimals (such as 4.5) should not see this issue. We are working on a bug fix so that regardless of the region ZipCode decoder will function correctly. If you are in a region that uses a comma, there is a temporary workaround that you can use until the bug fix is released: If you change your region format to a location that uses a decimal, (such as the UK, South Africa, Canada, USA, Botswana, etc.) ZipCode Decoder will function correctly. Please note it is NOT necessary to change the language, only the region format, for this temporary fix. Once the bug fixed has been released, ZipCode Decoder will work regardless of which region format you specify.

We regret having to suggest a temporary workaround. The bug fix is scheduled to be included in update version 1.4. Once 1.4 has been submitted to the store, Apple's review process may take up to two weeks to release the change. We regret this timeframe as well.

For those of you that elect to use the temporary workaround, please let us know if temporarily changing your region settings causes you difficulty. We regret this bug and are working to solve this as quickly as possible.

ZipCode Decoder FAQ

version 1.0
Q: Why can't I click on the entries?
A: Version 1.0 does not do anything when you click it, which is how it was designed. Versions 1.2 and 1.3 added clickthrough to Google Maps. Future versions may add features to click to Dynatel Traffic or other sites, depending on your country location.

Q: What's the big number off to the right mean?
A: That is the distance to the geographic center of the nearby locations.

Q: I just drove from one location to the next, and your number went from 2.6 to zero! Are the locations accurate?
A: The locations are accurate. The distance is to the center of the nearby location, not the border. Many times locations are larger than 4 or 5 miles across, and many have bizarre shapes. It's common to go from several miles to suddenly being inside a location. Like Tom Petty once said: "That's just the normal noises in here!"

Q: Why does it take so long to exit?
A: ZipCode Decoder 1.0 updates once every nine seconds (after the first update). It does intercept pressing the iPhone button to exit during that time, but will only exit when the nine second timer is reached. Most of the time this is less than the full nine seconds. Future versions eliminate this delay.

Q: How are you able to work in 44 countries around the world?
A: We contact a geoserver that allows geolocation lookups in 44 countries around the world. It's that easy!

Q: I'm in Bulgaria (or a different location). How do I know you'll return city names in my language?
A: Most locations, including Bulgaria, Greece and other non-Roman alphabetic languages are returned in either the home alphabet (such as Cyrillic or Greek) and the Roman alphabet. Japan is the exception in that place names are returned in Romaji (Roman Characters).

Q: Why doesn't the network indicator spin when you're processing my request?
A: Oops! You got us. That's a bug in 1.0 that's been fixed in all later versions.

Version 1.3
Q: When I click on the row for a postal code, Google Maps doesn't take me to my postal code. What's up with that?
A: Currently Google maps clickthrough only works consistently in the UK, US, Canada and Mexico (although it may work in some other locations). We plan to address this in future versions by either adding city name and country name to the search, or if necessary dropping the postal code in the search.

Q: Yor about screen says Klebian group. Everything else says Klebeian group? Which one is right?
A: Klebein Group is the correct spelling.
